Slow order placement

Hello. I’m trying to place market orders at about 9:32am, but I’m finding that they aren’t being filled until after 9:33am.

My order created/filled times look like this for all of the stocks I tried to buy on my paper account the last couple days:

  • Created: 9:31:52 AM
  • Filled: 9:33:03 AM

Is this typical for market-opening purchases? Is there any way to account for or mitigate this delay? Am I misunderstanding something?

All orders I make after 9:33am generally fill immediately.

(FWIW I can’t use MOO orders because my buys depend on opening data.)
