I’m testing two strategies on the paper side, one with ETFs and the other stocks. With the ETFs, the trailing stops seem to work as expected, either locking in profits or staying open over multiple days. However, with the stocks, the trailing stops appear to keep getting filled almost right away for a loss even when the stock is in an up move. Basically, every stock position gets stopped out every day. I’m reviewing ATRs to make sure my stop levels are appropriate, but it still seems the stocks are getting hit far too early and frequently.
Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this in the Paper environment?
