Not allowed to do even 1 PDT trade in a week

My life account with the same email adress was on 23.07 still under 25k at the beginning of the day. I have not done any daytrades since several month and my counter of PTD trades is “0”.

But i still get a code 403 on 23.07 when just trying to close 1 pos opened 23.07 (NVDA).

Whats the logic here? SEC allowes 3 PDTs in a 5 rolling days. Im not able to execute this right. Why?

First of all if you’re looking for support, you’ll find none here. You’ll need to email alpaca support for any help.

Also, I’ve had issues with a 403 error and it seems that it can because by low volume in buyers/sellers. So if you’re trying to sell during a falling knife, you’re going to struggle to find buyers unless you’re lucky. It’s not clear because a 403 is a terrible way to communicate this, but it’s possible that’s the cause. I was getting them all the time with SOL/USD which has low to no volume after hours.

I highly recommend programming to sell early, rather than trying to maximize gains.

I was trying to close the pos (selling) manually during the day at market price. So slippage and volume should not have been a problem. Also API should not have been a problem here.

@antsatwork If there is a specific live account related issue contact support@alpaca.markets. Ensure you include your account number and of course a description of the issue. Include the time (with timezone) if possible. They can look in the logs and find why you were seeing a 403 error.

That said, you are correct an account can execute 3 day trades in a rolling 5 day window if the account equity is under $25,000.
