Is paper trading data real time?

I have been testing a model in my paper account, using polygon real time data.

I just noticed that the 1m charts on Alpaca dashboard are delayed data.

Was curious if the system is paper-trading on delayed data and thinking on real-time data??

Thanks,

John Paul

Not exactly sure what you mean by “if the system is paper-trading on delayed data and thinking on real-time data?”. However, I’ll answer in perhaps a roundabout way.

Generally, all prices, quotes, and calculations such as P/L, equity, and buying power are real time full market SIP data. This is true for what’s displayed in the dashboard as well as what’s returned in the API’s. This is also true whether it is a live or paper account. The charts displayed in the dashboard, however, are the single exception and present 15 minute delayed data.

Note that paper trading simulations are based upon real time quotes and trades. This ensures that paper trading mimics live trading very well.

Hope that answers your question. Reply back if I’m way off base.
