Day Trade Count - same day or within 24 hour period

Hi All,

I understand that if you buy and sell same day for an equity, the Day Trade Count will increment by 1.

Is the Day considered the same calendar date or is a day considered within a 24 hour period?

If bought at 3 PM on Tuesday, and attempt to sell next morning at market open on Wednesday 9:30 AM, is that a Day Trade count since that period of time is within a rolling 1 day of a 24 hour period from point of the actual buy timestamp?
or
can a buy and sell be done as long as it is a different calendar day without incrementing the Day Trade Count?

The buy and sell have to happen on the same calendar day to be considered a day trade.
