For the past month, I have noticed consistent, fully marketable paper trade bracket orders going unfilled from market open to about 6:34/6:35AM. My app has a 60-second timeout and by the 4th sometimes 5th order it begins to process normally. I have seen others on this forum point to this exact issue. Can a mod shed some light?
@cnyfdfg4 Could you provide an order number or two? I can check the logs, which often provide insight.
Appreciate the quick reply, here are a couple recent ones…

@Dan_Whitnable_Alpaca Wanted to follow up on this. Thanks.
@Dan_Whitnable_Alpaca following up again on this. Please confirm if this is a known Alpaca paper trade issue.
@cnyfdfg4 The orders you listed did not fill because you submitted them, but then canceled them after about 25 seconds. The median paper order fill time is about 5 seconds, but the distribution has a very long tail, increasing to 102 seconds at the 80th percentile. The orders were canceled before they could be filled.
A couple of things. Live orders have a median fill time of 14ms and 465ms at the 99th percentile. These numbers are pretty consistent throughout the day. Paper orders, however, take longer during the first minutes of trading, but then settle into sub-second median fill times.
While paper trading attempts to simulate live trading, there are some limitations. The order fill time is one of them.
Thanks for the feedabck, Dan. I’ll make adjustments to account for this.
