@Zhiming Yes it’s true. SPX option trading is available in both paper and live accounts. There are a few things to be aware of:
- Cash Settlement: Profit or loss settles in cash, so you do not take delivery of shares or hold a position after expiration.
- No Early Assignment: European-style exercise means a position cannot be assigned before expiration, and you can’t early exercise long positions.
Yes, that is why I like the SPX option: no assignment risk and cash-settled.
