# ShareFactor - what is it?

I am using the polygon api via Alpaca integration. In the stock financials data there is a field called ‘ **shareFactor** ’. For example, for stock ADAP shareFactor is 0.167, while the ‘shares’ value is 630993866. Majority of the stocks seem to have the shareFactor value as 1.0.

**What is shareFactor? How is it calculated or how is it related to the ‘shares’ field?**
