# Paper account stopped being able to short

Yesterday, 7/23, short orders were rejected saying the “account is not allowed to short”. However, these were paper orders sent to the paper endpoint, and nothing else changed on the account from 7/22 when short orders _did_ work.

It may also be related to being unable to receive MFA text codes from the login page?
