# Identifying a closed order as short or long

Hey everyone,

when querying the API for closed orders is there a way to know of a sell order was a short or long?

I don’t see this information using the [https://paper-api.alpaca.markets/v2/orders?status=closed](https://paper-api.alpaca.markets/v2/orders?status=closed) endpoint.

Hey @ishaybas!

Right now we don’t have anything in place to differentiate between a short or long sell order; that being said, that’s a GREAT feature request and something I definitely think we can put on our list of requests to review in the future.
