Found Problems in the Assets endpoint

Hey… after some time I’ve found these two problems from the Assets endpoint:

  • First: it classifies “Goldman Sachs Group Inc.” (GS) as ptp_with_exception!? is it something normal?
  • Second: for the NASDAQ:ALP and NASDAQ:UCAR and NASDAQ:PHGE symbols… why it classifies their status as inactive even though they are actively traded on Trading View?

@Moamen_yasser thank you for the feedback and being diligent about the assets endpoint.

I wasn’t able to replicate the issue with ALP and PHGE. Those both return status=active.

UCAR is also status=active but is tradable=false. It was halted by Nasdaq on the evening of September 8, 2026, under the “News Pending” designation. This temporary pause is because of the company’s scheduled 1-for-20 reverse stock split, which takes effect at the market open today, September 9, 2026. When that halt is lifted it will become tradable again.

The issue with Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) having a “ptp_with_exception” attribute is simply technical. That attribute doesn’t mean the security is a partnership — it’s a broader classification bucket the security master applies, and it specifically means “asset has met exception requirements… traders can open positions without general restrictions and are not subject to withholding”. It’s essentially a “cleared” flag in the PTP-checking system rather than “this stock is a partnership.”

GS gets swept into the same data pipeline/checking logic used to flag PTP securities, keyed off SIC code, exchange listing category, and vendor data field, and comes out the other side as exempt/cleared — i.e., the underlying system checks every security against PTP criteria and GS clears that check, rather than the attribute meaning GS itself is treated as a partnership. GS had previously been a partnership (in 1999) and this attribute simply guarantees it won’t get accidentally caught as subject to withholding.

Hope that helps and again thank you for your feedback.
